In the unlikely event streaming won't start, or stops working on your PC or device:

  • Check that your PC or device is still connected to the Internet.
  • Make sure you click or tap PLAYPlay.
  • Try reloading the page and then pressing the PLAY button again.
  • On a PC try refreshing the page: While pressing and holding the Ctrl key, press the F5 key a few times.
  • Try clearing the browser cache and then reloading the site and streaming audio page.
  • Try TuneIn Radio.
  • Try listening to the audio stream directly in your browser by clicking or tapping the following link:

What song data does the stream window show?

PC and MOBILE Streaming Pages - When the selection is from our library, the stream window normally displays:

  • Artist and track name of the currently playing selection.
  • The Coming Up list displays the estimated times, artists, and titles of the next few selections. Click or tap the Show/Hide icon to show or hide the list. Times are approximate.
  • The Played Recently list displays the last 8-10 track titles, artists, and where available, the album titles. Earlier titles will scroll off the bottom of the list.

PC Mini Stream Player - Controls are the same as on the main Streaming Audio page. Currently playing song title and artist are displayed; however, no upcoming or previous track lists are displayed. To see this info, view the main Streaming Audio page.

Occasionally, we play songs from CDs or other external devices. Song data does not appear for these selections.

What's the difference between the Streaming Audio page and Mini Stream Player?

Look and operation are identical except for the upcoming and previous track data, which are missing from the Mini Stream Player. Also, the Mini Stream Player is a stand-alone player, so you can use the main browser window for other surfing tasks while continuing to listen to the Oldies.

I have high-speed internet, but the audio rate is only 128kbps. What's the problem?

There's no problem. The audio is encoded at our end at 128kbps. It provides for good audio quality while helping eliminate dropouts on slower connections.

I tried listening during the week and didn't hear Oldies. Did you change your format?

No. WSTB streaming audio resources are shared with "The Alternation." The SOJ web casts Oldies from 3AM Sunday morning until 4AM Monday morning. The rest of the week, it's Alternative Rock. Listen at your own risk :-)

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE: Having two streams on two different sites provides some level of back-up in case one or the other site conks out. Bookmark www.rock889.com for emergencies.
